Charity
Airwave is honoured to partner with the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice in Arundel, Sussex.
Chestnut Tree House is a children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions. Covering East and West Sussex, Brighton & Hove and South East Hampshire, the hospice cares for 300 children and young adults from 0-19.
Chestnut’s goal is to provide the best quality of life for children, young people and their families, and to offer practical, social and spiritual support throughout each child’s life, however short it may be.
It currently costs over £3.5m a year to provide all the care services provided by Chestnut Tree House. Families are never charged for their care and less than 7p in every pound is funded by the government, so a heavy reliance is placed on the help and support of people like us.
Airwave and the SCCI Group are organising a series of activities throughout the course of 2018 and plan to raise as much money as possible for this fabulous cause. If you’d like to support any of our fund-raising activities, we’d be very grateful – see below for more details:
Three Peaks Challenge – 29th June 2018
On Friday 29th June 2018, 21 members of the SCCI Group of companies completed the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountain in England, Scotland and Wales.
Aiming to raise enough money to pay for a day’s operating costs at the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, we asked family, friends, partners and colleagues to sponsor our completion of what’s known to be a gruelling challenge, requiring supreme tenacity and determination.
Not only did we climb three mountains in record breaking temperatures, we raised over £8,000 for the hospice. To find out more about our adventure, click here.
South Downs Marathon – August 2019
2019’s Chestnut Tree House charity event saw the Airwave team and partners (Samsung, Philips, LG, Sky and Wifirst) walk 30 miles from Eastbourne Pier to Brighton Pier across the hilly South Downs. Once again, the temperature was akin to the surface of the sun and made life very difficult for the walkers.
2021’s event, a 30-mile walk from Weymouth to Swanage., was unfortunately cancelled, due to Covid-19.
North Downs Marathon – June 2021
Meeting at Merstham railway station in Surrey, a team of walkers from Airwave and various partners, walked along the North Downs Way, finishing in Guildford. The route took on the veritably towering Box Hill, and various other hills on its way to Surrey’s county town.
As seems to be the tradition, the day’s main talking about was the weather. Not the usual heatwave this time, instead conditions that would have worried Noah and his ark….
However, all walkers were tenacious and positive, finishing the 25 miles with smiles on their faces, water in their boots and most importantly, raising well over £6,000 for Chestnut Tree House.
Thames Path Trek - May 2022
Airwave and partners walked 25-miles along the Thames Path, from Henley-on-Thames to Windsor, in Surrey.
We’re delighted to report a first for the annual charity event – nice weather! Pleasantly mild, no rain and smiles all round. But most importantly, we managed to raise north of £6,000 for Chestnut Tree House! Congratulations to all involved.
Thames Path Trek 2 - May 2023
We so enjoyed last year’s stroll along the Thames Path, we decided to do it again – just a little bit differently this time…
Starting off in the beautiful city of Oxford, Airwave, partners and friends walked 25 odd miles along the river, finishing in the town of Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
At the time of writing, we’d raised £6,850 for Chestnut Tree House.
