Barchester Lichfield – Spires Care Home
Manchester based McGoff & Byrne construction recently completed the £7m build of a Barchester Healthcare care home. Known as “The Spires,” Barchester’s new property is located close to Lichfield’s city centre and offers 70 beds and high-quality care services dementia sufferers and the elderly.
As McGoff & Byrne and Barchester’s entertainment technology partner of choice, Airwave assisted in the provision of a TV system for the Spires care home.
“Due to budgetary requirements, we were asked to provide a domestic TV system” said head of healthcare sales, Jes Redgard, “this presented a difficult situation for us; we pride ourselves in listening to the customer and providing what they want, but at the same time recommend against the installation of domestic TVs in a non-domestic environment.”
Due to the cost differential between commercial and domestic TV displays, Airwave is occasionally asked to supply the latter. However, this presents a whole host of issues – most notably the invalidation of the warranty. It’s prudent to note that the failure of just one TV can exceed short-term cost savings.
On this occasion however, Airwave’s buying power and long-standing relationship with Samsung enabled the purchase of Samsung hospitality TVs at a lower price than the high-street equivalent. Further enhancing the value of the deal, the 70 x Samsung 32EE470 displays all arrived with a 3-year (as opposed to 1-year) commercial warranty, including a fast response swap/repair service.
Samsung’s range of hospitality TVs all boast dedicated commercial specification, including features such as security mode, auto-volume levelling (preventing the disturbance of other residents) and remote management.
Having provided a robust and cost-efficient technology system to Barchester Healthcare, Airwave is delighted to be named as partner of choice for future projects.
